Honda’s Kevin Windham, of Centerville, Miss., won the $1,500 Butterfinger Crisp Holeshot Award. On lap 1 Windham led Yamaha’s Heath Voss, Reed, Suzuki’s Ricky Carmichael and Kawasaki’s James Stewart. Carmichael moved into second place on lap 2 and two laps later Stewart crashed, removing himself from the heated battle. Reed worked his way past Carmichael on lap 12 and passed Windham for the lead on lap 16. Carmichael finished second after passing Windham on lap 17.
“That was a great race tonight,” said Reed. “I was a little tight at the start and started to get into the groove as the race progressed. This was seriously one of the best races of my career and I am happy to leave with a big win.”
Langston Wins First-Ever 125cc Eastern Regional Championship
Ludington, Mich., native Kelly Smith earned the $1,000 Butterfinger Crisp Holeshot Award. Langston was in eighth on lap 1 and finished fourth in the main event. In season points standings, Langston and Hansen tied with 143 points, but the championship goes to Langston based off his three overall wins to Hansen’s two. Suzuki’s Davi Millsaps finished second and Honda’s Joaquim Rodrigues third.
“This was an amazing season for me,” said Langston. “Winning the 125cc supercross championship is a milestone in my career.”
The Next race takes place at Seattle’s Qwest Field Saturday, April 16. Tonight’s race airs on ESPN2 tomorrow April 10 at 5:00 p.m. EST.
