Julien Lieber of the Standing Construct Yamaha Yamalube Team has scored another top three moto finish in the second round of the World MX2 Series in Thailand. Julien scored a third place finish in the second moto. In the opening moto he was riding in third position as well when he had a nasty get off on a double jump.

Due to a damaged bike he was forced to retire from the race. Valentin Guillod was ill but despite this he managed to ride two consistent motos and finished fifth overall.

The weather circumstances were extremely warm in Thailand. With temperatures around forty degrees it was tough for the riders. The track in Thailand was really technical with several wave sections, rhythm sections, double jumps and table tops in it. Valentin wasn’t fit coming into the weekend. Despite this he tried to make the best of it and to score as much points as possible. On Saturday both riders crashed in the start of the qualifying heat. Both riders had to come back through the field. Julien passed one rider after another and finished the race in eight position. Valentin came back strong as well and ended the race in twelfth position.

In the first moto it was Julien who took a decent start and came out of the first corner in sixth position. He found his rhythm straight away and managed to pass Benoit Paturel and Pauls Jonass in the beginning of the moto to move up into fourth position. In the following laps he started to close down the gap to Tim Gajser and with a nice passing manoeuvre he took over third position. Soon after he had a nasty get off on a double jump. His bike was damaged a lot and due to this he was forced to retire from the race. Julien had picked up several bruises and was really disappointed about the way his first moto ended. Valentin started the race in twelfth position but in the beginning of the race he managed to work himself up into the top ten. In the following laps he worked himself up into seventh position and in the closing stages of the race he managed to pick up another spot to finally finish the race in sixth position.

Julien was determined to ride in the second moto despite the pain he had all over his body. He took a good start and came out of the first lap in sixth position. Things were going really well in the beginning of the race and after a few laps he had worked himself up into third position. The two leaders were already too far gone so Julien decided to focus himself to finish the race in third position. With a nice rhythm he was riding over the technical track and managed to held on to third position till the checkered flag waved. Valentin started the race just outside of the top ten. He found his rhythm straight away and worked his way up into sixth position. In the rest of the race he tried to close down the gap to Thomas Covington who was riding in fifth position. He gave everything he had but wasn’t able to close it down and finished the race in sixth position. Despite his illness he scored some good points for the championship.

Valentin finished in fifth position overall and Julien ended the weekend in ninth position. After two races Julien and Valentin are in fourth and fifth position in the championship. In three weeks time the series continues in Argentina.
