On MC: « He’s a great rider and to beat his supercross record would be phenomenal but I am not going to loose any sleep over it if I don’t. I just want to have more wins that anyone else. That is my biggest goal. »
On Honda: « I have two more years after this season, but I would like to retire with that company. I have a lot of faith in them and I believe they have the same with me. »
On would he race GPs: « No. We have the premier thing going here. I would like to maybe just do supercross only 3 or 4 years down the line, supercross only, and focus on something like that. But that is so far down the line, I say that at times like this because there is so much traveling, but outdoors come so much easier to me. Why quit something when you can have fun at it and its easy money and its fun. Why not do it? »
On winning right now: « I believe that this is my time. That is what I hope. A lot of guys are trying to beat me. I have a good program at home. My bike is excellent. I don’t have very many distractions. When the going gets tough you don’t need any distractions. I think Jeremy never had any distractions. You only have a certain amount of wins in you and until that day comes no one knows. I am sure one day I will know when I can’t physically do it anymore. »
Could he keep racing if he stops winning? « I don’t think so. If I am getting beat and I know I am not going to be able to win, I don’t think I will go out there and race. I am really hard on myself and I work too hard to not get the results. Unless the money is outstanding, then that is something different. Jeremy McGrath is entitled to do what makes him happy. I will support Jeremy with whatever he does. He needs to do what makes him happy. The decisions he makes, no one should give him grief about it. »
Would he like more competition? « Definitely. I am always looking for a challenge because it keeps me motivated. When you get out there and you win by a certain amount of distance very weekend it kind of makes you lazy. I think a good butt kicking would be good once in a while to get my fire started again. I am always up for a challenge and it makes the year go by faster. »
On off season and European supercross races: « I am not doing anything else after the nationals besides the Motocross of Nations and the US Open. We race enough. I am getting married, and I need to focus on the U.S. supercross series. That is the important thing. I don’t get anything else from Honda to win races in Europe and their main thing is U.S. supercross. »
