Current Lucas Oil Pro Motocross champion Zach Osborne has re-signed with Rockstar Energy Husqvarna Factory Racing through the 2022 season, confirming his future just days out from his 450MX title defense.
Osborne, 31, first joined Husqvarna in 2015 and has established himself as one of the sport’s elite since. Now, that partnership will lead through next year and potentially beyond as they agree upon one year extensions at a time.
“It’s been done for quite some time,” Osborne revealed on Monday night’s PulpMX Show. “We agreed to go one year at a time, see where we’re at. I love where I’m at, I enjoy the team that I’m on and I think it only makes sense for me to finish things up there over the next couple of years. We’ve talked about things afterwards, so it really made sense for me to stay.”
With Jason Anderson expected to be departing Husqvarna and joining Monster Energy Kawasaki in place of Yamaha-bound Eli Tomac, Osborne isn’t fazed whether the team will remain at three 450 riders or be reduced to two in total.
“For me, it doesn’t really matter if it’s two or three riders – it’s part of the deal to be a good team player,” he added. “It’s something that I enjoy, kinda bouncing ideas off of people and as a fan of the sport I think it’s really cool to see some big moves, potentially.”
Since joining Husqvarna, Osborne won two-straight Monster Energy Supercross 250SX East titles with the team in 2017 and 2018, in addition to the 2017 Lucas Oil Pro Motocross 250MX crown in 2017. His maiden premier class success was earned in 2020, clinching the 450MX championship that he will defend beginning with Fox Raceway this Saturday.
